As Outage Plan Change Controller, you’ll be part of the Network Operations and Intelligence (NOI) team. The team was introduced to provide insights and facilitate effective collaboration between the departments within NGET. It’s an exciting and ambitious team, where you’ll get to know how the whole business is running and performing, working with a variety of people across all departments.
Working with the team, you’ll provide a holistic view of how NGET is performing against commitments, particularly around outage plan change. You’ll use Excel, VBA and Power BI to report on various parts of the end-to-end plan change process which will provide business support, insight and assurance to National Grid staff and leadership on a core business process.
The team have been developing a more comprehensive and integrated change management process, and we now need a team member to facilitate the adoption, work across NGET to manage the process on an ongoing basis, providing governance and reporting on the performance of our decision making. You will work across different levels in the organisation, including Project Managers and Planners, as well as the NGET executive team for escalations.
A key activity for this role is to challenge that the decisions we make are fully justified and are the best outcome for NGET, therefore experience in outage planning or power systems engineering knowledge would be beneficial.
This role is based at our offices in Warwick and can be combined with hybrid working from home.
Summary of Key Accountabilities
- Define and operate a framework for making decisions, manage stakeholder relationships, and identify legitimate authority.
- Ensure changes to our plan are controlled and coordinated.
- Develop, produce and deliver regular and one-off management information to provide insights and aid decision-making.
- Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria.
- Develop dashboards using BI tools to provide insights to support decision-making from operational to Exec level and lead cross-departmental collaboration on KPI and data sharing to drive business improvements.
- Document planning decisions and rationale to provide increased visibility of delivery performance & change control.
What you'll need
With a background in outage planning or knowledge of power systems engineering, you’ll ideally have experience using VBA, Excel, Power BI.
Experience of communicating with multiple stakeholders using both written and verbal communication across the hierarchy is essential as are stakeholder management skills.
With good time management and the ability to work to deadlines, prioritising work with minimal supervision, you’ll be numerate and computer literate.
You’ll need a good knowledge and understanding of the Utility regulatory environment as well as an understanding of how the NGET business operates and its challenges.
