As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you’ll support the Business Planning processes to increase effectiveness and maximise the insight provided to meet all internal and external stakeholder requirements in line with National Grid’s strategic aims. 

 

You’ll ensure the compilation of the NGED’s strategic business plan (SBP), the quarterly reforecasting (including finance briefs at half year) and the annual budget setting process as well as provide accurate and clear communication of complex financial issues. 

 

This role is based out of our Castle Donnington or Bristol office, and we’d hope to see you in the office 2 days each week. We have sites and members of our finance team across our regions, and this role would involve occasional travel to these sites. What You’ll Do:

  • Support delivery of the Strategic Business Planning (SBP) & Budgeting process including full modelling, scenario planning and the preparation of Entity Executive reporting, Entity Board reporting and Group reporting. 
  • Support delivery of the end-to-end Forecasting process including modelling, scenario planning and the preparation of Group reporting.
  • Review and challenge Entity performance to provide insightful reporting, aligned to group and entity targets. 
  • Act as a partner for assigned Finance Business Partners to support them in generating and interpreting business and financial information and using it effectively to make informed business decisions.
  • Support with Month end reporting and preparation of the MBR pack.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the National Grid corporate model.
  • Assist in calculating and maintaining the alternative performance measures, including Return of Equity, RAV, Regulatory Financial Performance, Timing etc. Both for planning and actuals processes.
  • Support processes by setting accurate timetables, key performance metrics and guidance to ensure delivery to agreed timescales and stakeholder requirements.
  • Review and challenge Entity performance to provide insightful reporting, aligned to group and entity targets.
  • Support FP&A responsibilities with any internal/external management reporting and working with Investor Relations where needed.
  • Assist the FP&A Senior Managers and FC as appropriate on other financial issues as required and to undertake additional ad hoc work as and when required to meet the needs of the business.

What You’ll Have:

  • Qualified Accountant, (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with planning, forecasting and budgeting experience.
  • Strong MS Excel skill and working knowledge of financial modelling.
  • Reporting Financial Information, Financial & Investment Appraisal, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Forecasting experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems (preferable).
  • Good commercial understanding.
  • Ability to influence and shape decisions.
  • Detail orientated, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across the business and influence stakeholders.
  • Can work well under pressure and can meet tight deadlines.
  • Confident in summarising complex transactions, weighing up all the relevant factors, such as how transactions impact other areas of the business to senior management.
