Unlock your Superpower working on High Voltage Transformers to support the efficient power flow of the HV Transmission System.
We’re looking for an engineer who has a background in working with high voltage transformers to support variable scale high priority projects to ensure wound and reactive plant are available to serve the power flows across England and Wales.
As the Associate Transformer Engineer, you’ll be responsible for interpreting transformer oil dissolved gas data, providing first-line engineering support to operational staff, acting as the Technical Secretary for engineering investigations, coordinating technical assessments, conducting audits and ensuring completion of follow-up investigations.
You’ll play a key role in incident analyses to support health and commissioning reviews, recommending performance improvements and offering assurance on the status of transmission engineering. Your expertise will be crucial in making decisions about equipment their suitability for service, including balancing demand and risk, serving as the focal point for the oil laboratory and ensuring accurate oil sample error corrections are rectified within specified timescales.
Additionally, you will manage external contracts, contractor relationships, and stakeholder interactions, working closely with consultants and internal teams to drive consistency and value engineering. Your contributions will also be vital in assisting with the annual Asset Health Review, ensuring the reliability and performance of our critical infrastructure. This role requires national travel across England and Wales.

• Power Transformers, Reactors and Quad Boosters from 400kV to 13kV.
• Transformer ancillaries.
• Line and Neutral End Tap-changers.
• Transformer protection devices.
• Understanding of transformer insulation oils.
