About the role
National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity we provide gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our energy network connects the nation, so it’s essential that it’s continually evolving, advancing, and improving.
This is a job for someone who likes data and enjoys using their analytical skills to keep work on track. You’ll be providing insight into business performance through data analysis, taking data from multiple sources and providing colleagues with the information they need to create effective solutions.
You’ll have the satisfaction of working closely with your projects, analysing performance data to help ensure successful delivery across a portfolio of infrastructure projects. You’ll work as a team to provide a holistic view of NGET’s performance, providing change controls, governance risk and prioritisation. We want to grow our forecasting abilities and make use of AI in what we do. Using Excel and Power BI to report on various parts of the end-to-end planning process you’ll provide business support, insight and assurance to National Grid staff and leadership on core business processes.
Developing, producing and delivering regular and one-off management information, you’ll liaise with the business to define success metrics and criteria. You’ll also conduct complex data analysis bringing together data from a vast landscape of systems.
We’re flexible on where you’re based and there may be need for you to visit our offices in Warwick. This can be combined with hybrid working from home.
What you'll need
Confident, experienced and motivated, you apply great attention to detail and are methodical and patient in your work. You are good at getting along with a wide variety of people and know how to interact in a positive, engaging way. It’s very important that you are a good listener and able to interpret what people are asking for.
You have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office, and ideally experience of reporting systems, such as Power BI. You’ll have the ability to present data and information with a clear, compelling narrative.
Highly organised, with good project and time management skills, you’ll have experience of communicating with multiple stakeholders both written and verbally and possess good stakeholder management skills.
You have experience of either an analytical or project management role. An understanding of how the NGET business operates and the utility regulatory environment, a background in the energy sector would be advantageous but not essential.
