To successfully deliver our Business Strategy, we must lead with insight. Understanding the needs and motivations of our customers and stakeholders, including end consumers and employees, enables the shaping of our day-to-day business decisions and future business plans, whilst helping to drive improvements in business performance.

 

Our commitment to involve stakeholders more in our business decision-making processes requires increasing engagement and interactions with thousands of stakeholder contacts to understand their requirements and motivations. We need to analyse and interpret the mass of data accumulated as part of these activities ranging from bi-laterals, workshops, forums, events, on line surveys, social media presence and large-scale research studies if we are to properly understand how to make effective stakeholder-led business decisions. This requires sound analytical capability but also the capacity to interpret human sentiment, motivation and opinion data based on recognising behavioural  ‘norms’, and provide recommendations based on potential interventions that can help manage risks, create opportunities and drive value add business performance action.

 

The purpose of this senior role is to have the autonomy to explore and discover new and varied data sets, then triangulate and communicate fact-based insight to drive informed decisions and actions across National Grid Departments:

  • Deep dive analysis across multiple, diverse and often newly formed data sets
  • Translation of engagement insight to support topic specific and business decisions, including materiality analysis
  • Design and management of market research studies, particularly across public domain
  • Action driven segmentation models
  • Predictive and propensity modelling
  • Insight visualisation
  • KPI metric formation

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Focused on the Business Strategy and desired outcome, to shape their brief, This role leads stakeholder management insight delivery through operational, web, market research and sentiment analysis, behavioural analysis and segmentation development and adoption, including but not limited to: Channel value, Influence levels, Effectiveness, Quality, and Representation.
  • Leads direct (internal data sets) impact aspect of Materiality analysis 
  • Shapes and delivers qual and quant market research directly or through specialist agencies. Producing insight & recommendations to drive business decisions, by shaping the business brief to address the problem statement.
  • Creates, develops and manages Stakeholder management metrics mechanism, using voice of the stakeholder (opinion tracking) and Voice of the process (Impact) – Includes Measures such as NPS (where stakeholders are common across Entities/Regulations and Group Strategy) and Stakeholder Satisfaction
  • Act as Consultant and Subject Matter Expert on channel user experience, behavioural and sentiment analytics best practice and In-house research to Insight analysts within the operational business.
  • Coaches operational  analytics teams on new assembled stakeholder data sets where value has been proven from initial exploratory analysis for ongoing use.

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How

 

Analytics

  • Demonstrable numerate and analytical capabilities
  • Demonstrable expertise in statistical modelling, Propensity modelling, perception tracking and measurement (ideally in a marketing or sales or similar commercial environment) 
  • Demonstrable understanding of the different strengths of data usability used to triangulate and interpret into relevant insight
  • Dashboard design (data visualisation) 
  • Proficient at sentiment analytics, segmentation construct and adoption, analysing qualitative data
  • Disciplined exploratory analysis (proactive analytics – without a formed brief)
  • Proficient at survey design driven by the analytical requirement aimed at solving the problem statement

 

Commercial Application

  • Excellent sense of business awareness and ability to interpret and make strong relevant business recommendations from the results of complex analysis
  • Experience of providing a mix of strategic and tactical solutions to current business problems

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Excellent consultancy skills and communication of complex material, such that complex and critical strategic recommendations are accepted and acted upon.
  • Significant experience presenting insights and recommendations to a variety of audiences both verbally and written.
  • Ability to shape a Stakeholder’s brief to ensure the analysis is focused on the problem statement.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

What's on offer

 

A competitive salary circa £55,000 – £60,000 – dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
