Choose one of the most vital roles in UK engineering.
Our electrical engineers are the backbone of our organization. At National Grid, we hold ourselves to the highest standards, not only in our work but also in how we support, value, and nurture our team. Our commitment is to empower every individual to seize control and shape their career, with unwavering support throughout their journey.
You will become an electrical engineer in our North Manchester team, embarking on a path that involves gaining valuable site experience and completing essential core training. Your journey includes a mix of classroom-based and on-site training, which may require short periods away from home. Once you have acquired the necessary safety authorisations, you will advance to the role of an SAP (Senior Authorised Person). In this capacity, you will take the lead on a range of projects in high-voltage electricity substations. Your responsibilities will include supervising team members and ensuring the adherence to safe work practices. Sharing your expertise and knowledge, you will oversee the completion of maintenance, refurbishment, or replacement works on various equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, and protection systems.
Your personal and professional growth is a top priority. You will work alongside a supportive team of experienced and skilled Engineers, who will guide you at every stage of your development and progression. Our ultimate aim is for you to advance to the role of a Commissioning Engineer and eventually an Advanced Commissioning Engineer.
