Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 14 years of experience in compliance, risk management, investigation, auditing, legal, or consulting.
- 10 years of experience as a risk and compliance consultant or advisor to a publicly traded company, or as an attorney specialised in labour law, regulatory and compliance, technology.
- Experience leading a risk and compliance function globally at a publicly traded company.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience presenting to board of directors, including risk committee of board, and executive business meetings.
- Experience building teams and cultures across multiple countries.
- Experience managing regulatory matters which involve risk mitigation under strict deadlines.
About the job
The Risk and Compliance (R&C) team within Extended Workforce Solutions (xWS) is responsible for ensuring that Google complies with all laws and regulations applicable to its contingent workforce globally. The team does this by identifying and assessing risks, setting requirements, designing and assessing controls, ensuring governance, and conducting testing and auditing. R&C equips, enables, and empowers Googlers to achieve success while protecting Google's brand and reputation. The team is a second line of defense at Google, working with other teams to ensure that Google is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
This role leads the Policy and Advisory team with xWS Risk and Compliance. The role is a direct report to the Head of Risk and Compliance for xWS and is responsible for managing all compliance policies for xWS. This includes drafting, interpreting, consulting and advising, and approval of any exceptions to policies. The team is also responsible for drafting supplemental guidelines and frameworks as required to supplement xWS compliance policies. A significant menu of service is to enable Alphabet businesses through consultation using subject matter expertise in order to reach business solutions that meet appropriate risk and compliance expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead team of compliance subject matter experts who own policies for extended workforce at Alphabet.
- Oversee inventory of policies, guidelines, training content for extended workforce risk and compliance subjects.
- Consult and advise Alphabet product areas and cross-functional areas on xWS compliance policies, including approval of exceptions or addendum to current policy library.
- Draft new policies as needed and work with appropriate business and cross-functional areas to implement.
- Design compliance training content and provide ad hoc training to stakeholders as necessary liaising with central Policy team (Risk, Compliance and Integrity or RCI) to ensure xWS policy framework is aligned with central policy teams.
