As an Associate EPC Project Manager you’ll be supporting the EPC Project Manager or Lead Project Manager to administer contracts across the Grimsby to Walpole portfolio. As you do this you’ll be trained to become an EPC Project Manager yourself.

Grimsby to Walpole will support the UK’s net zero target by reinforcing the electricity transmission network in Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, and facilitate the connection of planned offshore wind generation, battery storage/solar, interconnectors with other countries and subsea links to Scotland, allowing clean green energy to be carried on the network. That’s a job anyone can be proud of.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to regular travel throughout the East Coast of England as required.

Key accountabilities

Contract management

Using a number of different contracts, including FIDIC, NEC3 and NEC4, you will support your EPC Project Manager to administer EPC contracts across the portfolio.
You will draft contractual communications, including the EPC Project Manager’s instructions.
You will support the EPC Project Manager with any other contractual matters, such as reviewing compensation events, issuing instructions, programme acceptance, and payment application reviews.

Stakeholder management

You will support the EPC Project Manager in maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders. These might include DNOs, generating companies, government and regulatory authorities, Ofgem, land owners, farmers and local communities. They will also include internal National Grid departments, such as Asset Operations, Customer Connections and the National Energy System Operator.
All your communications with stakeholders will be timely, clear, concise and professional.
As necessary you will attend meetings, public events, respond to correspondence and talk to the media.

About you

You are a logical problem solver with an eagerness to learn and a hunger to succeed. You are positive and want to contribute, not just in terms of your day-to-day role but to our larger net zero aims too. You are committed to a cleaner energy future and highly motivated to make a difference.

Ideally you already have an understanding of National Grid and NEC EPC contracts.

At the minimum you have a HND, ideally in engineering or project management, or equivalent experience. We’d like you to have engineering, and preferably utilities, experience too.

You’ll need a driving licence, with the ability to travel as required, and there might be some overnight travel too. There will be some flexibility required to work outside of normal hours, and perhaps most of all, a willingness to do whatever it takes to successfully deliver your projects.

We are fully committed to the development of our people and will support you to progress any way we can. For example, we will pay for and give you time off for external training in project management, such as NEC accreditation, APM, PRINCE2, NEBOSH and people management.

A competitive salary between £45,000 - £57,000 – dependent on capability.
