Overview
Home. There’s no place like it.
And there’s no feeling like helping people create the joy of feeling truly at home. We’re the UK's number one choice for homewares because we make home life lovelier for our customers. And we’ve crafted a workplace that feels just as welcoming – where you can bring your ideas, be yourself, and feel right at home.
As an ambitious company with a forward-thinking sustainability programme, we are committed to ensuring the business is fit for the future. Our Good & Circular strategy includes embedding circular thinking into product design and sourcing, as well as helping our customers use and reuse our products more sustainably.
We’re looking for a Materials Verifications Specialist to join our Climate & Sustainability Team. You’ll be the go-to person for making sure our sustainability claims are solid, credible, and backed by best practice. You’ll work closely with our commercial and product teams, helping them navigate the world of verification, and guiding them towards claims that are as meaningful as they are marketable.
This is a brilliant opportunity to get stuck into the “planet” pillar of our strategy, and help shape how Dunelm talks about sustainability, with confidence, clarity, and care.
What you'll be doing
- Developing and delivering Dunelm's Verification Strategy, making sure it’s practical, purposeful, and future fit.
- Managing certification and verification for more responsibly sourced materials, across both product and packaging.
- Verifying and assessing supplier certifications against product and website claims, ensuring we stay compliant with the Green Claims Code.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers, guiding them through verification requirements and helping them achieve recognised certifications.
- Producing clear, useful reports to support our commercial teams with verification progress.
- Holding regular catch-ups with commercial teams to review how products are progressing.
- Creating training and internal guidance for colleagues and suppliers, making verification easier to understand and apply.
- Developing supply chain traceability projects, helping us dig deeper into where and how our materials are sourced.
- Carrying out industry benchmarking to stay on top of best practice and legislation around certification and verification.
- Supporting annual and seasonal reporting, helping Dunelm meet its sustainability commitments.
- Leading on verification requirements linked to legislation, including selling in the UK and EU, and managing relevant taxes.
What we'll look for in you
- A background in certifications and auditing, with a good eye for detail and a nose for what’s credible.
- Confidence to lead projects independently, while keeping others in the loop.
- Experience working across Responsible Sourcing, with a broad understanding of the landscape.
- A solid grasp of supply chain mapping, and how to trace materials back to their roots.
- Familiarity with certifications like GRS, GOTS, Better Cotton, and others in the same space.
- Knowledge of product circularity and more sustainable materials, such as responsibly sourced cotton, timber, and palm oil.
- Strong supply chain engagement skills, and confidence when communicating with colleagues and external partners.
- A good level of Excel and data handling skills, with the ability to turn numbers into insights.
- Great organisational skills, and the ability to present ideas clearly and simply.
- Sound data integrity skills, making sure what we say is backed by what we know.
