The Team:
The Content Acquisition and Rights Management (CARM) team is the market data advisory group to the S&P Global organization. The CARM group works across the S&P Global enterprise supporting its various divisions and business lines on a global basis in support of S&P Global’s vision, purpose and values. CARM is a center of excellence for content acquisition, data sharing, savings/synergies and governance (rights management, audits, governance policy etc.).
Responsibilities and Impact:
You will contribute to the centralization and growth of this function for S&P Global business divisions. This position has significant importance to a variety of internal partners.
Your focus will be on the rights of use of licensed 3rd party content and services for S&P Global’s business divisions. You will help implement internal controls and provide guidance to internal colleagues to ensure use of 3rd party content and services contracts meets the needs of our businesses and that S&P Global’s business use remains compliant at all times with the terms of our agreements with the relevant 3rd parties.
In this role you will have the opportunity to interact with people from across the S&P Global organization. You will learn about numerous market data products, services and vendors and their product offerings. You will be part of a Team that has exposure to many of the groups and divisions that the Company is involved in. You will continue to learn about financial services by being in a company that is a global leader in that industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Rights Management team within S&P Global’s Content Acquisition & Rights Management group
- Lead rights management reviews of existing and prospective 3rd party data and services agreements to assess permitted rights of use and share review analysis with and make recommendations to business partners. Maintain alignment with cross-functional partners throughout the process (Legal, Content/Product).
- Operationalize the Rights Management function at S&P Global in order to make it a transparent, business enabling function across the organization. Specifically:
- Review established process and tools supporting the data rights process to ensure contract terms are databased, all rights management reviews are documented, stored and tracked. Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions for more impactful work.
- Implement and promote standard methodologies to ensure consistency in all data right reviews (maintain evidence substantiating data usage conclusions, and implement a quality assurance process to determine accuracy of any data rights reviews). Abide by legal and CARM operational standards and protocol.
- Train and promote the adoption of best practices relating to data use across the enterprise to maintain compliance across the enterprise at all times.
- Be point and :
- Manage all 3rd party and internal audits coordinating business support during the process.
- Validate (from a CARM perspective) all product releases (new products and/or materially changed products)
- Coordinate all M&A projects (from a CARM perspective) supporting the onboarding or divestment (as the case may be) of data contracts supporting the acquire or divested business groups or entities
- Collaborate with CARM team members on process improvement/optimization projects, documentation collection, data sharing engagements and cost savings opportunities.
- Meet with business partners and vendors, review news and periodicals, attend training and events to continuously grow and evolve knowledgebase of S&P Global’s products and services, S&P Global’s 3rd party vendor partners, and the overall financial information and market data industry.
- Hybrid working model - 2 days a week in office
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Legal degree required with prior experience reviewing, revising, negotiating and authoring data license agreements.
- Relevant experience focused on legal/rights management work, contract negotiations, rights management, compliance, audits and/or overall market data management.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Team management experience
- Knowledge of financial information and market data industry – including various vendors and products available in the marketplace.
- Strong knowledge and interest in new technology applications (e.g. AI, machine learning, OCR) for rights management.
- Project management skills.
- Attention to detail, follow-through on projects and multi-tasking skills a requirement.
- Ability to cultivate a sense of availability with stakeholders, even while working remotely. Comfortable liaising and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Excellent organizational and collaboration skills. Highly organized and self-directed with the ability to work autonomously and adapt to change.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills with ability to influence and/or inspire others to find creative solutions to challenging situations or problems.
