Lead Underwriter
We are looking for a Lead Underwriter to join our Underwriting team which sits under our Chief Credit Officer.
Our Underwriting Team is at the heart of our business, empowering small businesses by assessing their creditworthiness. As Lead Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our underwriting strategy and driving operational excellence.

The role
Advanced Credit Analysis: Conduct complex credit assessments, leveraging advanced analytical techniques to identify and mitigate risks
Operational Excellence: Optimise underwriting processes, identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains, whilst also reducing operational risks
Team Development: Mentor and coach underwriters, managing referral workflow whilst fostering a high-performance culture and driving development
Data-Driven Insights: Utilise data analytics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and improve underwriting accuracy
Product Innovation: Collaborate with product teams to develop innovative credit products and underwriting solutions
- Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day
What we’re looking for
Proven track record in credit risk management, preferably in SME lending
Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial statements and credit risk metrics
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade
Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on developing talent
In-depth knowledge of SME lending market and industry best practices
Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques
A passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering exceptional results
