The Role: Senior Analyst, Medium Term Oil
The Team: You will be joining a unique, high-performing, diverse team, providing business-critical data and analytical information to the marketplace. This role is in the AltView team, part of the Oil Markets, Midstream and Downstream (OMD) under Fuels, Chemicals and Resource Solutions (FCRS) business line at S&P Global Commodity Insights. AltView is a second forecast view coming out of S&P Global Commodity Insights, developed by a dedicated team of experts with its own set of models, methodologies, and insights, independent of the S&P Global house view. All OMD members (house and AltView) interact actively in subject areas such as global oil demand, production, refining, trade flows, petrochemical feedstock, chemicals, shipping, agrobusiness, gas, power, energy transition and integrated analysis.
The Impact: You will have a positive impact on the company’s standing in the industry by driving excellence in data and insights. This position will have major responsibilities in analyzing and forecasting the direction of oil markets, focusing specifically on supply and demand trends in the medium term (five year) time frame. A highly thematic but also data centric role, that requires taking a holistic and creative approach to energy market analysis. The position will also have business development and client retention responsibilities where applicable.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for research, modeling, analysis, and outlook on global oil markets for the medium term (five-year) future time horizon.
- Deliver a regular Medium Term outlook.
- Contribute to and deliver AltView Storyboards, Posts, and other reports.
- Work closely with other members of Commodity Insights and S&P Global at large.
- Interact with customers to answer questions and present oil market outlooks.
- In addition, you will contribute ideas on OMD initiatives.

Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or MA degree in economics, engineering, business administration, or similar field.
- Minimum six years of work experience for BA degree (four years for MA degree) in oil demand analysis, macroeconomic/energy demand research, oil refining, oil industry consulting, investment banking, equity research or equivalent professional experience.
- BA/BS degree (with minimum six years of experience in areas outlined above) or MA degree (with minimum four years of experience in areas outlined above) in economics, engineering, business administration, or similar field.
- Excellent communication skills in oral and written English (as most of our communication are done in English internally and externally). Must be able to effectively present forecasts and supporting materials to clients in regular reports, phone calls, emails, and web or live engagements and events. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally. Ability to provide a detailed and accurate review of peers’ work, showing good judgment and ability to express, both positive and negative comments.
- Innovative and strong problem-solving skills to streamline processes and identify and implement improvements.
- Works well in a team environment, capable of leading and adapting to the needs of a diverse team
- Expert in Microsoft Excel and other database tools.
- Excellent at data mining and data visualization with available software programs.
- Displays good problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
- Successful candidates will be able to work well under tight deadlines and thrives in a start-up team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in economics, energy, engineering and refining
- Experience covering global oil markets
- Understanding of economics/econometrics/refining modeling (LPs)
- Experience in modeling and programming languages
