The Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights is looking for a Principal or Senior Analyst to join our Commodity Briefing Service (CBS) team and develop our new Aluminum analytics offering. The role will consist of building a view of supply and demand, and other metrics, to develop 10-year term price forecasts for key global alumina and aluminum benchmarks for publication in monthly and ad-hoc reports. The Aluminum CBS will join a suite of successful analysis reports covering a range of Metals and will require someone who enjoys engaging with clients and who can participate in S&P Global webinars and conferences as a thought leader.

Importantly, the role will enable you to become a subject matter expert and authority, with invaluable exposure to major clients, industry participants and other divisions within S&P Global.
The Team / The Business: Our Commodity Briefing Service team provides in-depth expert insight and analysis into the metals and mining sector. We deliver robust, independent research and analysis drawn from a range of information sources. Our high-quality products and services help clients identify, benchmark and value new business opportunities, monitor competitors and market trends, and act on strategies more confidently and efficiently.

I’d like to find someone who is enthusiastic and happy working as part of a team, but who can also independently develop other potential areas of research. Whilst the role is ideally based in the US, it’s important the analyst has interest in other global markets pertinent to the aluminum value chain. Overall, this is a very exciting opportunity to quickly take to market a service where there is clear customer need and to become the face of aluminum for S&P Global.”
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience in aluminum or other metals analytics and be educated to degree level or above. Experience in building supply/demand and price forecasting models will be advantageous.
Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:
- Modelling end-sector supply/demand for the aluminum supply chain
- Researching, analyzing and publishing commentary on topical events pertinent to metals & mining markets
- Regular publishing and production of price forecasts
- Participation in business development activities and external representation as required, such as at conferences or client roadshows
- Engagement with clients and other key stakeholders
- Some business travel as required
Qualifications:
- Established experience as a metals analyst
- Degree educated
- Advanced MS Excel skills and other MS programs
- Solid numeric analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Familiarity with VBA, and SQL and/or Python programming language
