About the job
Design and user experience (UX) are at the forefront of everything we do. The job of an Interaction Designer is to envision how people experience our products and bring that vision to life in a way that feels inspired, refined and even magical. In an Interaction Designer role, you’ll tackle complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use designs for billions of people around the world—from the first-time user to the sophisticated expert. Achieving this goal requires collaboration with teams of Designers, Researchers, Engineers and Product Managers throughout the design process—from creating user flows and wireframes to building user interface mockups and prototypes. At each stage, you will anticipate what our users need, advocate for them and ensure that the final product surprises and delights them.
Android is Google’s mobile operating system powering more than 3 billion devices worldwide. Android is about bringing computing to everyone in the world. We believe computing is a super power for good, enabling access to information, economic opportunity, productivity, connectivity between friends and family and more. We think everyone in the world should have access to the best computing has to offer. We provide the platform for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and developers to build compelling computing devices (smartphones, tablets, TVs, wearables, etc) that run the best apps/services for everyone in the world.
Responsibilities
- Own the design for critical projects within the devices area.
- Design for systemic, ecosystem-wide scale, establishing reusable patterns, principles, and design systems while partnering strategically with OEMs to elevate the global Android onboarding experience.
- Drive end-to-end UX strategy and separately lead complex, ambiguous Android Onboarding domains (including Onboarding and Settings design libraries, and device life-cycle experiences) from initial discovery through post-launch iteration.
- Elevate and own the Onboarding design system, ensuring strict visual and interactive consistency, accessibility, and scalability across the broader Android ecosystem.
