Job Summary
Our Research group consists of passionate scientists with very diverse backgrounds including physics, engineering, as well as seismic exploration geophysics. We are all committed to support the Imaging teams on the delivery of projects and to new technologies that will strengthen Viridien’s technical leadership on our competitive market.
Thanks to the use of your knowledge of signal processing, wave propagation, and numerical optimization you will design, implement and evaluate advanced algorithms, workflows, or software solutions tailored to solve specific geophysical or engineering applications.

About the team
As Imaging Researcher, you will join a group composed of 13 professionals split into 4 Research teams based in Massy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, test, and support new algorithms to improve imaging of the subsurface. This will include validation of the proposed approaches on synthetic and real datasets
- Participate in the validation of your contributions with senior staff by analyzing and evaluating processing and imaging results on synthetic and field data.
- Collaborate with imaging teams, to stay aligned with production demands and with the evolution of industry trends.
- Work closely with software engineers on the development, deployment, and improvement of high-performance computing applications on GPU and CPU architectures based on new imaging techniques and technological advances.
- Present your work and results to your colleagues and clients, as well as externally at conferences and workshops
- Prepare technical articles for industry proceedings and journals.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or other related technical discipline.
- Professional proficiency in English
Key skills and Competencies
- Excellent coding skills (C/C++, FORTRAN, Python, etc.)
- Strong analytical mindset, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Capable of abstracting geophysical concepts with mathematical language to solve complex problems.
- Good communication skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work autonomously and demonstrate curiosity
- Knowledge of high-performance computing is a plus (MPI, multi-threading, GPU, etc.)
- Knowledge of geophysics and seismic imaging is a plus, but it is not essential.
