National Grid is hiring a Lead Supervisor, Gas Dispatch located in Hicksville, NY.
The Lead Supervisor, Gas Dispatch, within the Field Operations Support & Controls position is a highly visible role. The ability to develop key metrics by working with the leadership team and using benchmark standards to create a first-class Operations delivery model. The ability to produce reports, including PowerPoint presentations, and having a strong gas operational, analytical background to analyze data is essential. Having the capability to present and write clear and concise explanations that explain various fluctuations and performance measures to senior leadership is a must. It will require a long-term commitment to the success of the Gas Dispatch Team.

Job Purpose
Lead the 24/7 team of Supervisors and dispatchers to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and Company policies and achievement of mandated emergency response and other internal targets. This position may require working rotating 8-hour shifts.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
The primary responsibility of the Lead Supervisor is to work very closely with the Field Operations and Programs Organization by leveraging the capabilities (i.e., personnel, methodology, and tools) to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, operations, performance management, customer service, and compliance. The successful candidate will lead working groups actively collaborating in work and resource management and delivering improved end-to-end processes through diagnosis, design, test/refinement, and implementation phases while minimizing daily business disturbance and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position is responsible for facilitating effective communication between stakeholders.
The Lead Supervisor, Gas Dispatch Operations, will Lead the development and delivery of standardized end-to-end processes to support future business. He or She will collaborate across all Field Operations and Customer Delivery Groups, driving consistency across all legacy operating companies with specific efforts to improve efficiency and leverage best practices.
Key Accountabilities
- This role will serve as a business process expert, defining the business processes and performing any required business process re-engineering.
- Analyze, design, and deliver new business processes related to Work and Resource Management.
- Work with the business and other stakeholders to assess current capabilities and identify high-level customer requirements.
- Serve as a liaison to the business community. Participate in a user and task analysis to maintain the business community's perspective. Ability to work with union-represented and management personnel to build engagement and design ease of use and sustainability into new processes and systems.
- Serve as a resource for the change enablement team as they evaluate training and performance support needs and design the training and performance support for new products.
- Coordinating gas emergency response with Field Operations & Programs, other Company emergency response personnel, Emergency Response Agencies, Regulators, Fire Departments, and the Police.
- Ensure timely and accurate notifications are made in compliance with the New York State Public Service Commission and Department of Transportation regulations and according to Company procedures.
- Lead achievement of goals, including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response, and safety.
- Maintain availability to cover vacant Dispatch supervisor shifts and manage emergencies, storm operations, contractor damages, and outages, even during business hours.
- Support continual development of the union workforce through regular coaching, performance assessment, and annual appraisal process.
- Lead the Gas Leak reporting process by conducting the daily leak reconciliation, including gathering manual and automated reports, entering corrections, and performing all required research to maximize accuracy and compliance.
- Develop, analyze, and assess operational KPIs, such as Emergency Response, Customer Service Performance Rate, Resource Management, and cycle time.
- Supports the manager in ensuring the shift workload and all applicable system risks are discussed for preparation purposes and properly notified if the daily workload cannot be accomplished on the assigned shift.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of demonstrated experience with considerable breadth and depth across maintenance, customer service, asset management, and emergency response, preferably in implementing large-scale change in a customer-focused organization.
- Ability to unite and drive cooperation across diverse teams with potentially conflicting goals and objectives.
- Significant experience managing resources and activities focused on delivering superior operational performance and continuous improvement.
- Experience in managing a team of bargaining unit/contract employees.
- Experience with regulation interpretation and analysis, data collection, and reporting
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.

Salary
$115,000 - $135,000 a year
