As a Performance Engineer within our Cloud, Digital & Integration team, you will join a cohesive team of colleagues working in an agile environment, focussing on delivering a variety of IT solutions that evolve the digital experience for our customers. You will play a central role in ensuring that our systems are designed and engineered for performance.

What you'll be doingAs a Performance Engineer, you'll be working to ensure that our solutions continue to provide a brilliant service for our customers. This may involve a range of activities across the SDLC - from providing design recommendations and refining NFRs (Non-functional requirements), to tuning the performance of applications, to helping improve observability for support teams.
You will need to build a strong understanding of the relationship between customer behaviour and the performance, availability, or scalability of our technical solutions, in order to develop crucial insight to guide stakeholders, engineering and performance test teams.
About youYou should have demonstrable experience in the following:
- Strong technical expertise - deep understanding of software engineering principles, system architecture and design, software development lifecycle and software delivery methodologies
- Refining non-functional requirements, producing volumetric analysis, and managing performance budgets
- Evaluating system architecture and design to identify risks and provide recommendations
- Clear understanding of different types of performance/non-functional tests
- Developing workload models, designing performance/non-functional test scenarios and capacity plans
- Experience investigating or troubleshooting performance, availability and scalability issues in both a live production environment, as well as performance/non-functional test environments
- Experience analysing data from observability tools such as Dynatrace
- Experience analysing and improving the performance of systems built on technologies such as ASP.Net, SQL, React, Windows VMs and cloud service providers (e.g. Azure, AWS)
- Teamwork skills and resourcefulness with a proven sense of ownership and drive
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communications skills as you'll be working with key stakeholders to present solutions
- Providing clear coaching and mentorship
