National Grid is hiring a Associate Engineer, Testing Engineering for Massachusetts. Worcester Southbridge, Hybrid. Ability to travel throughout our service territory for critical meetings where face to face interaction is of high value.
Job Purpose
Our team culture is self-directed and empowered. Primarily responsible for commissioning meters for Meter Test and conducting meter audits in the field. Ensure effective operations related to metering assets by providing engineering expertise and support for related to Meter Testing and installation. Support other business units with engineering and troubleshooting to meet local needs.
Key Accountabilities
- Possess working knowledge of all aspects of metering including types of meters and PTs/CTs, functionality of meters and PTs/CTs, capability/utilization of meters and PTs/CTs, testing equipment, incorporated software used for meter test equipment, and the manufacturers of meters, PTs/CTs, equipment.
- Perform field inspections on complex metering installations utilizing heavy test equipment.
- Maintain a solid focus on customers’ expected results.
- Obtain proficient use of laboratory and corporate software systems.
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Test and challenge existing procedures as appropriate and highlight areas for improvement in order to ensure they are robust.
- Demonstrate and maintain excellent oral and written communication skills plus organizational and analytical abilities.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program is preferred.
- Ability to use complex test equipment in a safe and skillful manner and ability to read and understand schematic and logic diagrams.
- Possess basic understanding of revenue metering systems and design concepts.
- Proficient MS Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
- Must be able to work overtime and/or holidays, nights, weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
Salary - $91,000 - $107,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
