Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or executive engagement.
- Experience advising and partnering with C-suite executives or government leaders on external engagements.
- Ability to travel internationally on a regular basis (up to 25%).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the emerging technologies landscape, with a track record of analyzing, drafting, or influencing policies related to Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, data governance, or frontier technology systems.
- Excellent writing skills, with an ability to distill technical information into actionable intelligence for a C-suite audience.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with a track record of navigating geopolitical, regulatory, and cultural landscapes to build consensus across international stakeholders.
- Excellent project management skills, with an ability to drive policy initiatives from conception to delivery, maintaining meticulous accuracy and alignment in changing political or regulatory environments.

In this role, you will be an experienced leader to co-design and scale DeepMind’s Executive Policy Engagement function. You will help to set and drive the strategy for how DeepMind's executives build trust with governments and policymakers. You will own long-term engagement plans, brief and staff our executives for high-stakes events, and help to build an executive policy engagement function.
You are an autonomous leader with advisory experience, operating expertly at the intersection of policy, communications, and executive management. You will collaborate closely and build trust with leaders in partner teams, including Communications and multiple executive offices.

Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership to build the executive policy engagement function. Own, design, and execute bespoke, long-term engagement strategies for our growing executive portfolio.
- Serve as the primary on-the-ground counsel for executives during international travel, providing real-time political insights and navigating stakeholder dynamics at major global forums.
- Draft researched briefing materials, speech content, and policy narratives to ensure all executive external communications are consistent and impactful.
- Leverage global networks across governments, think tanks, and industry to proactively secure and shape high-impact, policy engagement opportunities.
- Design and oversee the infrastructure underpinning the function, managing forward-planning calendars, opportunity triage, and knowledge management systems.
