National Grid is hiring a Assessment & Selection Manager on a permanent basis. The location for this role can be based in Warwick or London - We offer a hybrid working model.

Job Purpose

This role owns our approach to assessment and selection of candidates both internally and externally across our various UK and US business units. This role will partner with our Recruitment Leadership team to identify the best tools, processes, and experience to assess and select candidates at all levels. This role will set the direction of how we assess; looking at what we do today and decide what’s needed for the future.

What you'll do

Lead on the creation and implementation of our assessment strategy and approach to ensure that consistent, objective, reliable and valid data impacts our selection decisions.
Develop and maintain an assessment framework and methodology by level, with supporting tools and maintain consistent adoption across the business.
Partner with the Recruitment team and their business areas to fully understand the various assessment needs and provide expert advice on the optimal methodologies and tools. Lead as an assessment SME and engage with senior stakeholders with our business leadership teams.
Work closely with the Executive hiring and Performance & Development teams to align the process and experience with our overarching assessment strategy.
Design and ensure the delivery of programs to imbed our assessment & selection processes/approach with the Recruitment team and our Hiring Managers.
Partner with cross-functional HR colleagues to build a skills focused talent strategy and determine how Recruitment will need to change as a result. Leverage the technology, vendors, and experience of the team to deliver on this objective.
Lead on our approach on assessment related reporting and analytics. Bring data to life to tell powerful people-stories and demonstrate the impact to the business.
Lead the team to monitor assessment activity for adverse impact and driving corrective action where it is found. Ensure that all assessment activity is legally compliant.
Lead on the evaluation, selection, and implementation of assessment tools. Onboard new suppliers / partners and manage ongoing agreements with providers.
Create assessment experiences that are engaging, fit for purpose, and designed for today’s digital world. Share the latest industry knowledge and practices and expertise in this field.

About you

You have a strong background in selecting, designing, and embedding a variety of occupational psychology solutions, with hands-on experience in applying psychometric tools and techniques.
You possess extensive experience working within large, complex organizations, effectively managing volume, specialist, and executive hiring needs.
You are knowledgeable about best practice approaches in occupational psychology and are eager to explore and implement these practices to optimize selection, development, and talent identification processes.
You have a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Recruitment, Performance & Development, and HR, to align assessment strategies with organizational goals.
You are skilled in engaging with senior stakeholders and can effectively communicate complex assessment methodologies and tools to diverse audiences.
You have a data-driven mindset, capable of leveraging analytics to inform decision-making and demonstrate the impact of assessment strategies on business outcomes.
You are committed to creating engaging and effective assessment experiences that resonate with candidates in today’s digital landscape.
You are proactive in staying updated on the latest industry trends and practices in assessment and selection, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation.
You have a strong focus on compliance and ethical considerations in assessment activities, ensuring that all processes are legally compliant and free from adverse impact.
You are passionate about building a skills-focused talent strategy that aligns with the evolving needs of the organization and enhances the overall recruitment experience.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £70,000 – £80,000 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
