The Role: Senior Specialist, Technical Research

The Location: Tetbury, UK (Hybrid working - 2 days a week in Tetbury office)
The role: This role will focus on research, analysis and database management of oil and gas fields and prospects in the Australasia region.
The Impact: The role will be the key member of the upstream regional team, working on data quality projects to ensure completeness, correctness, consistency and timeliness of the S&P Global's E&P database, which is used extensively in the upstream industry.

Responsibilities:
Undertake extensive research on oil and gas fields and prospects in the Australasia region. Update, maintain and validate field and prospect modules in S&P Global Upstream E&P database. Work closely with other team members on fields' activities updates such as, production, reserves and development to support our asset valuation workflow, regional/country supply analysis
Conduct field data quality projects driven by basin/area reviews, global attribute quality goals, asset opportunities, etc
Participate in workflow improvement processes, including automation initiatives
Address client inquiries related to oil and gas fields in the region
Attend industry events to gather information and build network of contacts
Publish paper(s) in scientific journals and/or oral presentation(s) in conferences
What We’re Looking For:
A Bachelor's degree in Geoscience is essential. Post-graduate in petroleum geoscience qualification preferred.
Industry/work experience in petroleum geoscience; preferably more than 5 years
Experience with data analytical software such as Excel, Access, Power BI, etc., and GIS tools
Good technical knowledge on basins, petroleum systems and plays.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and quality control skills
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work on deadlines
Good communication skills with fluent spoken and written English
Team player who is able to demonstrate a high level of initiative, willingness to learn and manage challenges
