National Grid is hiring a Senior Welding Supervisor, for our Gas Construction Maintenance department in Braintree and Malden MA.

Job Purpose
To be responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned field staff to effectively, efficiently and safely accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements.
Key Accountabilities
· Ensure that all welding policies and procedures are being followed by both National Grid and contractor welders.
· Supervise National Grid welders in their daily job performance
· Work with Regulatory Compliance and Jurisdictions to respond to any NOPV (Notice of Probable Violations) and audits as required by the MA DPU (Department of Public Utilities). Provide oversight of contract welders working within assigned jurisdiction.
· Ensure safety, reliability, security and integrity of our gas customer’s premises as well as the Company’s distribution system, consistent with Company goals, objectives and policies, in full compliance with existing and future governmental codes and regulations.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
· Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
· Knowledge of Shielded Metal Arc Welding and ability to weld (up and down hand) cellulose and low hydrogen. Knowledge of additional processes preferred.
· Knowledge of welding on in-service gas pipelines
Qualifications
· CWI (Certified Welding Inspector with API 1104 endorsement) preferred.
· API 1169 preferred
· Supervisory experience in managing and leading a union work force
· Must have demonstrated skills to build effective, respectful working relationships across different union locals in New England
· Technical knowledge of distribution system, engineering, construction and maintenance process. Knowledge of federal, state and municipal codes.
· Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of company computer programs such as SAP, Powerplant, Maximo a plus.
· Applicant must exhibit proven supervisory skills and ability to work effectively with others in a team environment is necessary. The candidate must possess an exceptional safety record, strong oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to maximize performance of subordinates. Solid planning and organizing skills are required. Salary
$115k - $135k a year
