About the position:
Under direct supervision switching substations, generating substations, and other electric delivery equipment and facilities found on the transmission, distribution, or underground systems
Under general supervision perform the following duties:
- Install
- Construct
- Inspect
- Test
- Operate
- Maintain all equipment and facilities in electric substations
- Snow removal
- Material delivery
- Installation and maintenance of fencing
- All other minor maintenance work as deemed by management
After one year's experience as a Substation Worker A duties may also include:
- Grounding
- Switching Operations
- Operate all equipment such as aerial lifts, boom trucks, fork trucks, and articulating lifts
Job Qualifications:
- Must have a NYS CDL Class A (restricted) or ability to obtain one within six months
- Must be able to perform strenuous work including work at elevated heights and confined spaces.
- Must pass physical abilities examination.
- Must pass validated aptitude test.
- Must have a valid driver license
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Accredited Postings:
- Must possess, as determined solely by management, a two-year degree or certificate in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or Electric Construction/Maintenance from an accredited college or university or equivalent electrical apprenticeship or journeyman certificate program as determined by management. (Degree has to be completed at time of application)
Salary:
Hourly/$35.57/Hr
