Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field such as Computer Networking, Information Security, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a data center or facilities environment working with data center equipment/environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems and fire safety systems.
- Experience with reliability centered maintenance and Engineering.
- Eligibility to obtain UK Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance; British Citizenship is required for this role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, including executives.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, including performance management.
- Understanding of start up/commissioning processes.
- Understanding of power and HVAC requirements for high-availability data centers.
- Ability to forecast requirements in a data-driven way.

As the Data Center Operations Lead, you will oversee tactical operations of UK colocation facilities and air-gapped cloud operations centers for Google Public Sector's private cloud services, managing colocation provider relationships, co-ordinating operational and project work, leading facility fit-out projects to meet capacity demands, and working with SovOps teammates to plan capacity expansion and co-ordinate logistics with hardware suppliers across multiple projects.Responsibilities
- Lead multiple colocation provider data centers as the data center site lead for the UK SovOps team’s Operations Centers.
- Manage relationships with data center providers, actively tracking performance against KPIs.
- Co-ordinate Data Center Ops work schedules across colocation providers, including scheduling changes, operational risk assessments, and stakeholder communications.
- Support new site selection processes through operational and technical knowledge.
- Oversee colocation data center fit-outs to ensure Google standards are met, enabling rapid commissioning of new capacity and smooth hand off operational teams.
