This role is within Cloud, Digital and Integration Function, specifically in digital domain.
You will be joining our Nationwide Experience Language (NEL) team. This is an inhouse design system and delivers reusable components and guidance for digital product teams.
We are looking for an Automation Test Engineer to join our NEL team with JavaScript based framework experience and take ownership of the test process and future test strategy roadmap.
While working with design system team you will also have opportunity to work on new automation framework for Internet Bank. The successful applicant will be responsible for defining and driving the test strategy, ensuring we move forward with industry best practice.

What you'll be doingYou will be responsible for the creation and delivery of test outcomes using testing solutions aligned to proven patterns. Working in our development team you will apply best practice and automation in the testing of reusable components, design system website and React application.
Your goal is to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of testing processes which align to our Technology Standards. Our test practice community will support you with guidance and help from your peers.
You'll also provide technical test leadership within the team, managing and mentoring individuals, driving the team to deliver on a regular basis.
You will ensure adoption of good practice and automation in the testing of both strategic IT initiatives and smaller deliveries enabling decisions to be made with confidence and at pace.
You may be required to work on-call from time to time.
About youWe are looking for a skilled Test Engineer with strong JavaScript skills who will work within a community of multi skilled teams to create and execute testing solutions including automation frameworks. We need someone with expertise including:
- Implement automation first approaches using industry best practices, targeting appropriate strategies for robust and repeatable automation
- Implement suitable tooling and metric to create an environment for continuous testing and continuous learning
- Provide technical input at parts of the delivery lifecycle, including consultancy to stakeholders
- Production of test evidence and associated artefacts to support quality
- Coding ability to support the creation and maintenance of automation frameworks
- Tools such as Cucumber, WebDriverIO, Playwright, BrowserStack, Selenium
- Understanding of DevOps principles, practices and tools.
- Experience of performing Accessibility testing using accessibility testing tools.
- Have the rigor, ability and discipline to self-learn what is required for continual professional development and stay abreast of changes in the industry
- Have experience of working in a complex technical environment, where there is a requirement to consider the impact of own area on others from a technological perspective.
