Working within the Chief Technology Office, this role will be responsible:
- To contribute to the technical architecture for applications across the society on behalf of the Chief Technology Officer.
- To actively champion the creation of any technical architecture assets needed to ensure the effective delivery of strategic change.
- To understand and manage the technical risks across your specialist areas.
- To bring SME knowledge and architectural thinking across application and integration technologies.
- Act as the gateway to the CTO Technical Design Authority (TDA), escalating items that are either of broader enterprise significance and provide clear direction to enable effective delivery.
- To bring strong and effective constructive challenge to pragmatically close outstanding architectural questions.
- To ensure delivery programmes that impact their domains are aware of the relevant CTO owned controls.

We will need you to be adept and proven at navigating different business and technical domains and influencing through building effective working relationships.

What you'll be doingAs the Senior Technology Architect, you will play an important role in the leadership of the Chief Technology Office, with a particular focus on technical architecture of applications.
Key responsibilities: - To lead the effective closure of cross cutting technical architecture concerns, through effective collaboration with other architects and engineers across the society.
- Influence and stakeholder manage up to C level to ensure our Application Technology Architecture evolves and is delivered through transformational programmes.
- Maintaining appropriate architectural artefacts which can be consumed across the architecture community.
- Work with the strategic vendors to both plan how to exploit their roadmap and to influence the roadmap to meet our future needs.
About youThe requirements for this role are:
- Expert in application and integration technologies from the Microsoft portfolio such as .NET and AWS and/or Azure managed services.
- Knowledge of application security, e.g., OAUTH, JWTs, Identity Providers, authentication and authorisation approaches.
- Modern application architecture approaches such as event based systems, microservices and containerisation.
- Demonstrable experience as an architect, who can articulate the benefits of taking an 'enterprise' approach and produce required architectural artefacts
- Experience in large scale transformation projects.
- Skilled at building relationships, negotiating, and influencing senior stakeholders from enterprise, business, data and technology architecture.
- Experience of setting a compelling architectural vision and communicating that to team members and other stakeholders.
- Results and goal orientation, the ability to set realistic yet ambitious and measurable goals and objectives.
