Job Title: Second Line Support Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. This is an on site position
Salary: £40,748 per annum
What you’ll be doing: - You will be leading the administration of End User Computing / 2nd line functions for several small environments
- Support with the administration of both
- Windows server and VM ware virtual environment as well as
- SAN / vSAN / NAS technologies
- Build and maintain physical and virtual servers and workstations
- Manage both patching and software updates via WSUS configuration and administration
- Perform System back-ups and gold builds for windows endpoints
- Perform monitoring and management of resources (disk space, event logs, backups etc.) including upgrades to existing hardware
- Knowledge of Networks (VLANS, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and Security technologies and toolsets
- Oversee the production of associated documentation
Your skills and experiences: Essentials:
- Significant experience working within Windows endpoints (2nd line support / End User Computing)
- Have good stakeholder engagement and management experience
- Strong trouble shooting and problem resolution skills
- Experience within PowerShell and scripting
Desirables:
- Microsoft certifications (or equivalent) and/or Degree in a related discipline
- SQL Database Administration

The Test and Facilities Capabilities Team within Engineering team: By joining the team, you will be building strong relationships across various functions in order to lead and manage the administration of the standalone IT infrastructure within a new facility. You will have the opportunity to support the wider IT team/Process and Governance in order to support the IT infrastructure and information security requirements.
There will be a fantastic opportunity for self development and to also lead/support other team members. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
