Job DescriptionRole Title: AI & Spatial Intelligence LeadLocation: UK (With expected travel)Salary:Competitive salary and package dependent on experienceCareer Level: Associate DirectorRole OverviewThe AI & Spatial Intelligence Lead shapes and delivers AI-first solutions that combine data engineering, advanced analytics, machine learning, and intelligent agents with enterprise geospatial platforms. The role turns complex spatial, asset, operational, and external data into trusted decisions and automated workflows, then applies these capabilities to asset-intensive industries including utilities, energy, natural resources, transport, and infrastructure. This is a client facing, commercially active leadership role responsible for shaping engagements, growing the pipeline, and building a differentiated spatial AI capability.
In this role you will:Design governed data products and scalable pipelines that integrate geospatial, asset, operational, imagery, IoT, and enterprise data across cloud and edge environments.
Apply spatial analytics, machine learning, computer vision, optimisation, knowledge graphs, and digital twins to predict risk, identify patterns, and improve decisions.
Create AI agents and agentic workflows that discover data, reason across spatial and asset context, generate recommendations, orchestrate actions, and keep humans in control.
Embed security, governance, explainability, monitoring, data lineage, and human oversight from solution design through scaled operation.
Translate business outcomes into reusable AI products, accelerators, reference architectures, and adoption roadmaps with measurable value.
What You Will Do- Lead AI and spatial intelligence advisory, data strategy, architecture, experimentation, and implementation engagements from opportunity shaping through managed delivery.
- Architect end-to-end data flows and data products across GIS, EAM, CMMS, SCADA, IoT, imagery, and enterprise data platforms, ensuring quality, interoperability, lineage, and spatial integrity.
- Design and deploy analytics and AI solutions for network analysis, geostatistical modelling, anomaly detection, predictive risk scoring, computer vision, route optimisation, and investment optimisation.
- Define and implement intelligent agents that support planners, engineers, field teams, and executives through contextual search, scenario analysis, recommendations, workflow orchestration, and decision support.
- Lead enterprise GIS and spatial AI solutions using ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise and Utility Network, GE Smallworld, cloud data platforms, APIs, and modern AI services.
- Build and qualify a pipeline of AI and geospatial opportunities across AMP8, RIIO-3, and major capital programmes. Lead proposals, demonstrations, executive workshops, and value cases.
- Recruit and mentor multidisciplinary teams spanning AI, data engineering, analytics, GIS, architecture, and industry consulting. Establish standards, toolkits, and reusable delivery methods.

QualificationWe are looking for experience in the following skills:- Deep experience delivering AI, analytics, data engineering, or enterprise geospatial solutions, with strong expertise in ESRI ArcGIS and/or GE Smallworld.
- Proven ability to integrate GIS with EAM, CMMS, SCADA, IoT, cloud data platforms, and analytics environments. Experience designing robust data models, pipelines, APIs, and governed data products.
- Hands-on understanding of machine learning and spatial analytics, including anomaly detection, predictive risk, optimisation, computer vision, and digital twin integration.
- Practical understanding of generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs, agents, evaluation, guardrails, and responsible AI controls.
- A commercial consulting mindset: able to frame a client problem, quantify value, shape a proposition, write a winning proposal, and lead delivery with senior stakeholders.
- Sector experience in utilities, water, energy, natural resources, transport, or infrastructure. Exposure to AMP, RIIO, OFGEM, EA, or related regulation is advantageous.
- Experience operating at Senior Manager or Associate Director level, with a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. Esri, cloud, data, or AI certifications are desirable.
