Job Purpose
National Grid is seeking Meter Service Representatives in the Beverly, Amesbury, Malden and Lowell area. We are a major electricity and gas delivery company with one of the largest electricity transmission and distribution systems in the Northeast. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a good driving record and be focused on customer, personal and co-worker safety. This job will rotate throughout various locations within Greater Boston and candidates will work within the natural gas side of the operation to provide timely and quality service to our customers while maintaining high customer service.
Key Accountabilities
- As a Meter Service Representative you will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
- All meter reading (Pedestrian, AMR, soft off and on)
- Physical offs
- ERT changes
- Leak Survey and Leak Surveillance (including leak classification)
- Field collections
- Wires down standby
- Assist on two-person assignments as needed
- Please note that to better represent the communities weserve, applicants must either currently live in or be able to relocate to within 30 miles of Beverly.
- In order to proceed in the process, you must be able to pass pre-employment assessments, including a demonstration of job skills, background check and drug/alcohol and physical screening.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Must have good mechanical aptitude and ability, high degree of dependability, and capable of exercising good judgment.
- Must pass Company physical and qualifying tests.
- Valid drivers license along with a safe driving history required
- Must be in good physical condition
- Must be an approved driver of Company trucks
- HVAC/Plumbing experience desired
- THIS POSITION IS A COVERED CLASSIFICATION UNDER D.O.T. ANTI-DRUG-ALCOHOL PROGRAM REGULATIONS AND CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO PASS A DRUG TEST.
Pay rate:$22.09 an hour
Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
