National Grid is hiring a Senior Planner, Capital Project Planning for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations
Job Purpose
Responsible for validating the accuracy and approving civil contractor estimates, for distribution/sub-transmission overhead and underground construction. Validate all job-related documents/information for constructability.
Key Accountabilities
- Subject matter expert on civil construction units and usage
- Stakeholder Management- Build, develop and maintain internal and external relationships
- Reporting-Track and maintain civil estimate status
- Other – Ad hoc support as directed
- Investigate and review contractor change orders
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Close attention to detail
- Estimating: Accurately estimate civil for overhead and underground construction to maximize efficiencies and identify savings opportunities
- Schedule Adherence: Strong organization skills, manage deadlines, participation in all schedule meetings
- Field Visits: Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and coordinate project field walk throughs with contractors
- Storm Duty: Support weather related events, outside of regular working hours
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in construction management, project management, engineering or 4 + years of qualifying experience
- 5 + years of field construction experience of overhead or underground distribution and sub-transmission systems preferred
- 3+ years of experience in project estimate assembly, review, and validation
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
- Self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, comfortable working alone and in team settings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including MS Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel and Word required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to travel locally 25-50 percent of the time required
