EY are looking to further strengthen their Actuarial technology capabilities.

 

We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer with a strong grounding in Python, to drive the development of our cutting-edge solutions in our Actuarial Non-Life team. As a pivotal member of our team, you will lead the charge in creating robust, scalable software that will not only revolutionise internal operations from a tooling perspective but also make a significant impact in our offerings to our clients. Your role will be instrumental in our aspiration to blend technological prowess with our actuarial expertise to offer unmatched value to our clients.

 

Your primary role as a Senior Consultant will be to spearhead our internal projects and initiatives while also providing support in client transformation engagements, particularly in aiding with the delivery of pricing and reserving transformations. Additionally, you will play a key role in leading our department's coding community and steering learning initiatives, ensuring our team's continuous growth parallels the innovative spirit of our projects. Your technical leadership will be integral to unleashing the full potential of our consulting services in the insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading development work including the build and maintenance operations of our reserving platform.
  • Implement coding standards and development tools including frameworks for code development and review within the department.
  • Lead technology delivery within our client pricing and reserving transformation projects providing coding guidance and peer review to the project team.
  • Create and facilitate Python coding learning and development initiatives for the department.
  • Perform Quality Assurance for engagements involving code development to ensure top-tier work.
  • Mentor and build onshore and offshore teams to support with development work.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships within the EY team and clients to facilitate optimal collaboration and communication.

 

Technical Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Programming, Information Management, and/or Maths.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a software development role, ideally within the financial or insurance industry.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience working with actuaries and understanding of Actuarial concepts an advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the software development life cycle, DevOps practices, Agile development methodologies, software design and testing.
  • Strong knowledge in Python. Experience of Python based pricing platforms (e.g. hyperexponential or Aon Pricing Platform) an advantage.
  • Experience with front end technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React / Angular JS).
  • Experience in working with databases.
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • Familiarity with containerisation concepts & tools (Docker, k8s).
