The Opportunity!
MBDA is establishing an exciting approach to ESG (environmental, social and governance). You will plan and lead the implementation of environmental aspects of our UK ESG strategy.
You will be responsible for delivering tangible environmental benefits by working collaboratively with colleagues across our sites in Bolton, Stevenage, Bristol and Henlow. You will also engage with the wider defence supplier community and Ministry of Defence, through industry forums and ground-breaking and transformational new programmes.
Your work will interface with our commercial teams as you will support responses to invitations to tender from customers. You'll support colleagues to understand the relative costs and value of ESG and integrate them into functional and project plans.
There's an international dimension to this role too, as you'll work alongside our Group companies in France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
What we're looking for from you:
- Strategic planning for environmental performance improvement: materiality assessment; strategic road-mapping; action planning and leading delivery.
- Subject matter experience in: carbon and greenhouse gas emissions; waste; biodiversity; raw materials; and water. Experience with data and using it to improve performance.
- A collaborative and supportive approach to working with internal and external colleagues, accompanied by a willingness to upskill and to challenge, constructively.
- Being a catalyst for change by identifying and bringing evolving good environmental practice into our business. For example: circularity; designing out waste; life-cycle analysis; design and engineering of products for through and end of life sustainability.
- Leadership in complying with current UK legislation and regulation (e.g. task-force on climate-related financial disclosures) and horizon scanning to prepare MBDA UK for future requirements.
You'll report into the Head of UK Sustainability and Social Value and will work closely with an Energy Manager, Project Management, Communications support, Health and Safety and dedicated sustainability leads across our functions (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Human Resources).
Our Business:
We respect new perspectives and experiences, and we value our collaborative ways of working. We are committed to growing and supporting diversity in our workforce and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their potential.
We recognise that everyone is unique, and we encourage you to speak to us should you require any advice, support or adjustments throughout our recruitment process. We also welcome applicants who are looking for flexible working arrangements.
