Application Support Specialists will be experienced, multi-disciplined IT professionals who will be the key point of contact regarding their assigned applications with a good understanding of the application from a business and a technical perspective. They will also be responsible for the creation and action of application strategies and road maps as well as ensuring that the business stakeholder are actively engaged. As specialized technicians they will also have a strong focus on maturing and enhancing the application delivery capability, identifying and implementing improvements to applications, process and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities - Creating/directing the creation of Application Strategies and roadmaps
- Liaise regularly with service providers and customers to review and improve performance against service level agreements (SLA).
- Manage the given suite of applications within the IT Application Portfolio in the key Application Services areas of Application Support
- Provide expert consultancy and support in the development of applications and techniques to support business needs; especially in the event of a major incident
- Share knowledge on the latest upgrade dates, associated functionality and suggest recommendations for change.
- Maintain an effective governance regime for the given suite of applications within the IT Application Portfolio
- Maintain an effective reporting regime for the given suite of applications within the IT Application Portfolio that provides relevant information on the individual applications within the given portfolio as a whole
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure the Application Services team deliver a consistent level of service
- Ensure that the given suite of applications within the IT Application Portfolio provides change that meets business need and can be interpreted and understood by stakeholders
- Provide governance and assurance to internal and external stakeholders ensuring a clear communication of plan, progress, risks and issues
- Prepare accurate and timely information relating to the given suite of applications within the IT Application Portfolio for input to stakeholders
- Liaise with the global teams to ensure the application is continually considered as a global application and all changes are signed off by each of the regions through the governance meetings
Preferred Competencies/Skills - 5+ years relevant experience as an application support engineer working on enterprise software and business applications
- Previous experience and knowledge of relevant global/regional applications
- Full understanding of the needs, objectives and constraints of the varying groups of users that rely on the application
- Knowledge of building reports and dashboards using coding language is essential
- Working knowledge of user administration tasks
- Comfortable with working within a global capacity
- Experience managing third party activities advantageous
- Experience of system migrations advantageous
- Planning and organizing - able to prioritize and manage workload
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an appreciation for an ability to communicate with and respond to the needs of diverse audiences
