Job Purpose
National Grid Damage Prevention Department oversees the protection of underground Gas & Electric assets. The successful candidate will support Damage Prevention’s organization to reduce damage to Company assets. This role will be required to be in the field and office approximately 50% split. This is not a remote position
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate the daily activities of the incoming 811 One-Call Tickets, including the oversight of Problem Locate Process.
- Familiar with reading GIS Mapping of Gas Mains and Services Cards Records.
- Directly responsible for reviewing all mapping updates and correcting records on all Problem Locates and including proactive record corrections as required.
- Identify High Profile Gas assets, such as Transmission Pipelines, Transmission Regulator Stations, Cast Iron assets and Underground Electric Transmission assets, including Sub-Stations.
- Understanding of NYS Code Rule 753- Protection of Underground Facilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Develop and support data reports to support Damage Prevention. Including any Compliance required reports and tracking of data.
- Monitor Third-Party Excavators construction work sites.
- Must be knowledgeable in underground gas and electric locating, gas construction methods and Ticket Management systems.
Qualifications
- 2-year Associate Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, civil engineering, construction management or 2 years of Damage Prevention industry experience.
- Preferred Northeast Gas Association (NGA) Operator Qualifications and National Grid Tasks:
- NGA OQ Task 21- Line Locating
- NGA OQ Task 70- Abnormal Operations
- NGA OQ Task 22- Third-Party Excavation
- NGA OQ Task 71- Excavation
- NGA OQ Task 06/08A- Atmospheric Corrosion
- Demonstrated strong commitment to worker safety.
- Maintain a non-restricted driver's license.
Upstate (East) NY Salary $77,000 - $90,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
