National Grid is hiring a Director of Enterprise Architecture for our IT & Digital department in Warwick.
What you'll do
As a Director of Enterprise Architecture, you'll develop and implement enterprise-wide architecture and processes that align with the organization's strategic goals and ensure compliance between business and technology strategies. You'll contribute to our vision by providing strategic leadership and guidance to stakeholders, identifying market trends and business benefits, and managing governance practices to ensure the organization's success. Key responsibilities include the following:
- Collaborate with business and technology leaders to unify the company’s business and technology strategy. Facilitate solution delivery to enable that strategy.
- Lead the architecture team in developing and implementing architectural strategies and solutions that align with the company's business objectives. Deliver future state blueprints and roadmaps to achieve the company’s business objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop architectural solutions that meet their needs.
- Develop and maintain architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices for the company.
- Evaluate new technologies and tools to find their potential impact on the company’s architecture.
- Conduct architecture reviews to ensure compliance with established standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with teams to ensure that architecture is incorporated into plans and that design decisions are aligned with architectural standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the architecture team, including mentoring and coaching team members.
- Participate in industry forums and conferences to stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in architecture, technology and the company’s industry.
- Oversee Solution Architecture (e.g. establish processes, tools and governance that empower Solution Architects to deliver high-quality and strategically-aligned architecture that respects principles and standards).
- Set and execute a personal leadership agenda to achieve personal and organization goals with little input from management.
- Ensure the company’s IT systems enable the company’s long-term strategy.
- Promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows. Ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other and business and IT strategies.
About you
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, or a BS/BA degree or higher in a technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience in information architecture, data architecture, solution architecture, application architecture, business architecture, integration architecture and/or enterprise architecture.
- Experience in strategic technology leadership, IT infrastructure, application architecture, solution architecture, data architecture, analytics, and outsourcing management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including articulating complex ideas and influencing in a matrix environment.
- Strong ability to guide IT financials and lead a diverse team with inclusive culture across geographical boundaries.
- Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders to deliver desired business outcomes.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £70,000 – 88,000 – dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
