Substation Craftsperson - Peripatetic
You will be working in the Warwickshire Team. Due to the nature of our work, we’re looking for you to live somewhere within 1 hour of either, Halesowen, Oldbury, Feckenham, Bishops Wood, Coventry or Coleshill.
Substations are a crucial element of electricity supply system in this country. Safety Culture, HV Transmission Substations are inherently hazardous environments, National Grid has extremely high safety standards that team members generally find comfortable working to.
You’ll generally be working in a team of 2 to 10 people and be involved with maintenance, refurbishment or replacement work on electricity substations. This could be from single asset replacements such as circuit breakers and transformers to maintaining/repairing aging high speed on load tap changers or complex 400kV circuit breakers. We also work on all kinds of ancillary equipment, DC battery systems, air compressors, diesels etc.
