Job Purpose

The Product Director will play a crucial role to help fulfil this mandate. This is a new and highly visible function within the Digital Workplace Services (DWS) team. The customer base of DWS are all National Grid Group colleagues including employees, contractors and service providers.
The primary role will lead the Product Management function of the DWS product portfolio which consists of devices and data access, real-time and content collaboration, and directory services. Working closely with the DWS architecture lead, platform managers, support and operations leads, and financial managers, the product management Director will lead a team that creates the go-to-market outputs and processes for this portfolio to ensure that our business outcomes are being met: colleagues have the right technology tools for their roles, those tools are easy to use and work well, and cost and consumption are understood by our business customers.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage a US/UK team of experience owners, communications and marketing analysts, business analysts and product managers to drive DWS product go-to-market strategy, communications, fit-for-purpose business outcomes and colleague satisfaction
- Create, maintain and communicate a 2+ year product feature-to-outcome roadmap in collaboration with platform and enterprise architecture to a disparate audience of end user customers, business and technology stakeholders at the president/CIO level
- Capture the voice of the customer and business needs as the primary contributor to product backlog
- Negotiate backlog priority with platform management and ITSM continual service improvement functions such as problem management
- Ensure the entire DWS product line lifecycle (plan, build, run, support) meets the needs of the business customer
- Own the company’s technology persona model, user journeys, success for key experiences such as joiner/mover/leaver and tech bundle cost, service request fulfilment catalogue, and job aids/training
- Develop and report product performance adoption and performance success metrics including leading and lagging indicators and satisfaction for each Group business
- Create DWS product OKRs to DWS and IT OKRs and vision, aligned to business outcomes
- Maintain stakeholder relationships with business stakeholders, champions, CIO business partners, and key partners in information security, HR, property, and infrastructure co-dependent teams
Qualifications
- A strong combination of technical, strategic, and interpersonal skills with a passion for delivering highly effective customer experiences, creating frictionless and intuitive products and services in the end user technology space
- 10+ years in a product management function, overseeing multiple product lines and customers with complex and often conflicting priorities and requirements
- Experience with user-centric design, understanding and documenting user needs and behaviors, user journeys and personas
- Proven success delivering metrics-evidenced business outcomes in complex enterprise organizations with over 15,000 employees
- Experience with direct and matrix reporting teams and budgets in excess of $20mm
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and ability to present confidently and professionally to executive audiences
- Strong data modelling and analytics with the ability to create metrics-driven objectives and key results, market/customer research and utilization data and make data-driven product and priority decisions
- Strong business acumen and knowledge of business spend models (capital vs. operational budget) and ability to create budgets and cost efficiency plans
- Experience with modern, Agile product delivery models (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and frameworks, modern workplace best practices for digital product design and automated operations and support
- Technical knowledge in enterprise infrastructure technology with a focus on the end user product portfolio and understanding of best practices in stakeholder management, change management, software development, cyber security standards, networking, SaaS and on-premise deployment models
- Experience in regulated, international industry a plus
- Able to manage and develop a team of high-performing colleagues up to managing director level
