Salary: Up to £48,000 depending on experience + Bonus + Benefits

A new role has been created to provide routine support and day to day employment within the Storm Shadow team but be trained and remain conversant with the skills required to fully support Mission Planning (MP) and / or Target Modelling (TM) activities at a customer site (Middle East).
Although overseas travel is not guaranteed with the role, the incumbent should be prepared to deploy to an overseas location to be temporarily embedded with a customer in order to provide support. The length of deployment could be up to 18 months whilst a permanent replacement is recruited / trained and prepared for deployment.
This is a new post and the ‘Reserve' status will follow a period of training at MBDA Filton where they will remain current in MP / TM but routinely engage in other Storm Shadow activities.
What are we looking for?
- You need to be a practical ‘hands on' engineer willing to work routinely with the Missile Systems (Storm Shadow) project, but also alongside the MoD and potentially Export Customers.
- Flexibility and the ability to deploy (at short notice) to an export location and maintain customer satisfaction for support to either TM or MP (or both).
- Be flexible and adaptable in your work, with the capacity to gain competencies in (and support) both TM & MP.
- Deliver, or assist in the delivery of Field Support to the highest quality, on time and on cost.
- Having experience and a working knowledge of the Fast Jet / Air Defence environment would be beneficial.
- An ability to mentor others and lead training courses, as appropriate.

The Role- Day to day (UK – Filton) - undertake Storm Shadow systems tasks as directed
- Maintain currency in MP / TM practices and procedures.
- Support to generation and delivery of Training Material to end users
- Support to general engineering development of Mission Planning systems
- General IT skills required with software development experience being desirable
- Testing, fault finding and reporting of software based systems
- Should have good problem solving abilities with a self-motivating attitude
- Knowledge and experience of the systems engineering process
- Experience in tools for requirements capture and control (DOORs) and configuration management is desirable
- If required – Reserve Role (Overseas):
- Maintain currency in MP / TM practices and procedures.
- Provision of advice and support to overseas customers regarding the use of MP / TM products.
- Establish and maintain good relations and communication with the Filton based Support Team
- The handling of queries and investigations into perceived problems with the use of MP / TM Modelling equipment with support from the UK engineering development team.
- The delivery of formal and on the job training to students in deployed location (if required).
- To assist with the product development at an engineering level (if required – feeding back from deployed location to UK).
- Sensitivity and awareness of customer culture to permit successful interactions.
- Continued provision of a service to the customer whilst recruitment and training of a permanent employee for the role is undertaken.
- Management of Technical Publications, attendance at relevant meetings and completion of reporting from within in country.
