The Data & AI Product team is responsible for developing and managing data and AI/ML products that drive intelligent experiences, decisions, and actions across the Tesco ecosystem. We work in close partnership with business and technology teams across Customer (including Insights, Marketing and Tesco Group departments), Finance, Commercial etc. to enable the seamless build, consumption, integration and expansion of Data & AI capabilities.
• Define Product Vision & Strategy - Working in close collaboration with the Lead PM, Evolve and drive the vision, strategy, and the long-term roadmap for a suite of products that will help deliver on our Group Personalisation Data vision & strategy.
• Deliver Measurable Value - Champion a value-first mindset. Set and track OKRs and KPIs across the product portfolio with a strong focus on delivering tangible business value.
• User-Centricity - Develop a deep understanding of user personas, customer journeys, and stakeholder needs to identify pain points and opportunities. Use this insight to shape product strategy, prioritise features, and ensure solutions deliver meaningful value.
• Fail-fast - Champion a fail-fast mindset by encouraging rapid hypothesis based experimentation, learning from early failures, and iterating quickly to deliver value. Promote a culture where teams feel empowered to test bold ideas, validate assumptions, and pivot when needed-ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
• Competitive Landscape Understanding - Engage with and actively involved in market research, leveraging insights to shape the vision and strategic direction
• Drive Product Execution -Translate strategy into actionable plans by managing backlogs - from Opportunity backlog to Idea Backlog to Product Backlog to Sprint backlog, and steer sprint/release planning with cross-functional team / squad.
• Collaborate & Influence Stakeholders - Partner with peers, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams to steer product direction and drive alignment.
• Resolve Trade-offs & Live Issues - Make decisive prioritisation calls, manage conflicting demands, and independently coordinate resolution of live product issues.
Deep expertise in customer data within retail
- Commercial drivers, business metrics, and performance
- Quantitative & qualitative data from surveys, social media, analytics, and direct interactions
- Identity/profile data for personalization
- Segmentation solutions for communication & insight
- Descriptive data (interests, lifestyle, preferences) to tailor products
Proven success leading end‑to‑end product lifecycles for Data & AI/ML products
Strong product management skills
- Structured methodologies, agile practices, and OKRs
- Data‑driven prioritization and roadmap decisions
- Tools expertise (e.g., Aha!) for roadmaps and stakeholder alignment
Extensive collaboration with data science, engineering, and analytics teams
Technical fluency
- Product management best practices & UX/UI principles
- Enterprise technology systems and large‑scale data platforms (scalability, availability, performance, security)
- System health metrics (uptime, SLOs, response time)
Leadership & communication strengths
- Stakeholder management and decision‑making
- Balancing technical debt with innovation
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
