What you'll do:
As a Compliance Technology Analyst Assistant Vice President at MUFG in London, you will immerse yourself in the heart of the bank’s efforts to combat financial crime through advanced technological solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical strategies that strengthen MUFG’s compliance posture. You will be instrumental in developing scripts for automation and integration tasks using industry-standard tools while ensuring that all enhancements align with regulatory expectations.
Analyse, design, and implement enhancements for complex financial crime and surveillance platforms such as transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and market surveillance systems.
Perform hands-on development, configuration, and scripting using Python, PowerShell, Dot Net, and Power BI to deliver scalable technical solutions tailored to business requirements.
Translate intricate business needs into clear technical specifications while ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and future-proof.
Conduct thorough root cause analysis on system issues and proactively design preventative controls to mitigate risks before they escalate.
Act as a key technology contact during internal and external audits by providing evidence of controls, system documentation, data extracts, reconciliations, and supporting timely remediation of findings.
Collaborate closely with Compliance, Operations, Risk teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and act as a liaison between business users and technology teams.
Provide subject matter expertise on financial crime systems architecture and data flows to ensure seamless integration across platforms.
Analyse large datasets for anomalies or control gaps while maintaining data integrity across all surveillance and reporting systems.
Support model validation processes including tuning machine learning models where applicable to enhance detection capabilities.
Participate actively in change management activities such as system upgrades, patching cycles (SIT/UAT), new implementations, documentation maintenance, and version control.
What you bring:
To excel as a Compliance Technology Analyst Assistant Vice President at MUFG, your proven track record should include significant experience supporting or enhancing financial crime prevention systems within highly regulated environments.
Demonstrable experience analysing complex systems within regulated banking environments with a focus on financial crime prevention or surveillance technologies.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and PowerShell for automation tasks along with experience developing scripts using Dot Net and Power BI for data processing or integration purposes.
Strong background in data engineering including hands-on expertise with Snowflake data warehousing concepts; advanced SQL skills for writing complex queries or stored procedures; familiarity with MongoDB (NoSQL) databases; experience using SSIS for data transformation workflows.
Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming architectures coupled with exposure to containerisation/orchestration tools like Kubernetes for cloud deployments.
Hands-on usage of GitHub (or similar platforms) for version control management including branching strategies and release management best practices.
Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks utilising JIRA/Confluence for project tracking/documentation purposes.
Exposure to AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch along with practical experience deploying models into production environments; understanding model lifecycle management/monitoring processes.
Previous involvement with transaction monitoring systems (e.g., Actimize), sanction screening tools (e.g., Fircosoft), communication surveillance or market/trade surveillance platforms would be highly beneficial but not essential.
Excellent communication skills enabling effective collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups; ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
A proactive approach combined with strong organisational skills allowing you to manage large workloads under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
