About the role
Are you an experienced Product Designer with strong UI skills? Join us in the John Lewis Financial Services team and contribute to the success of the Financial Services Global online services and Credit & Banking products, creating value for our customers and our business.
You'll be instrumental in developing a market-leading John Lewis Financial Services omnichannel experience that cultivates customer preference and loyalty, enabling us to reach our targets.
You are a vital member of a collaborative, multi-skilled squad. Together, you will explore, design, prototype, test, and develop end-to-end customer solutions. You will also address customer pain points, directly enhancing the Financial Services customer experience.
Within the broader digital product plan, you will work independently and quickly. Your focus will be on supporting team goals relating to our Global Credit & Banking value stream. This stream includes various products like Credit Cards, Travel Money and Loans. You will use your passion, agility, and pace to manage requirements from start to finish.
Salary range - £48,500.00 - £74,000.00
Contract type - This position is a fixed term contract until May 2026
Working pattern/flexible working - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The team aims for around 1 day a week in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings.
Key responsibilities
Support the delivery of projects as assigned by the Digital Product Lead and Product Design Manager across Credit Cards, Travel Money, International Payments and Loans products.
Work with stakeholders to define and agree the digital product design requirements.
Support in the delivery and maintenance of the JLFS Design System (component library and corresponding set of standards) to keep digital user experiences consistent, and ensure designers and developers can build products efficiently.
Work independently and as part of a multi-skilled, collaborative Global Credit and Banking team to deliver digital product design changes focused on improving the JLFS customer experience and delivering value for both JLFS customers and the business.
You will have responsibility to work across Providers and JLP stakeholders (Compliance, Financial Promotions, Commercial, Marketing and more) to deliver the proposed omnichannel journey changes.
Ensure your skills and capabilities remain in line with those required for Digital Product Design and JLFS.
Invest in your personal and professional development, acting as a role model for all Partners.
Leverage insight and internal and external networks to keep abreast of key customer requirements, market conditions and trends, including technological advancements.
Responsible for compliance with John Lewis policies & procedures within the legal and regulatory framework.
Essential skills/experience you’ll need
Suitable technical or business degree or apprenticeship.
Demonstrable experience of digital product design, UX and UI, and the associated technologies and packages for producing and digital product designs (e.g. Figma).
Deep understanding of User-Centred Design (UCD), Interaction Design, and UX principles.
Proficiency in UI design, prototyping, and design systems.
Experience working with both commercial stakeholders and with technology delivery functions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good business judgement; an ability to solve complex issues with pragmatic solutions.
